How to photograph a rug for valuation
Good photos make a rug quote faster and more accurate. Use natural light, avoid heavy filters, and photograph the rug flat whenever possible.
The three essential photos
- A full front photo showing the entire rug.
- A back photo showing the weave and knots.
- A close-up of the pile, border, fringe, label, or damage.
Add measurements
Measure length and width including or excluding fringe, and mention which method you used. Size is one of the biggest factors in resale demand.
Show condition honestly
Stains, pet damage, moth damage, repairs, dry rot, and heavy wear affect value. Clear close-ups build trust and help avoid delays.
